The Lakeside Living Room

Built for bare feet.
A lakefront living room takes punishment: sand, wet towels, bright sun ten months a year. The owners wanted pale oak without the maintenance anxiety — so we gave them natural white oak under a matte, UV-stable finish.
The challenge
Wall-to-wall sliders flood the room with light, which yellows most finishes and bleaches stain. And anything glossy would show every grain of tracked-in sand.
What we did
We installed rift-and-quartered white oak — the most dimensionally stable cut — with no stain at all, sealed in a matte water-based finish rated against UV ambering. Five days including the covered-deck threshold.
